Hottentot fig (Carpobrotus edulis) in Corsica. Carpobrotus edulis is a species of fat plant in the Aizoaceae family. Its fruit is edible. Native to South Africa, it was imported to America and Europe in the early 20th century for ornamental purposes and soil stabilization. Today, it is considered invasive in a number of countries with a Mediterranean climate.
