Base of the remarkable Carré Oak, nicknamed the Eiffel Tower for its parallelepiped shape - Forêt de Tronçais - Allier. The torso fiber of the Chêne Carré has shaped its trunk into a helix, and its square, parallelepiped-shaped base is reminiscent of the four pillars of the Eiffel Tower. It is one of the few very distinctive trees in the Tronçais forest. Four centuries old, it was listed in 1931. It is one of the forests last three classified trees. Remarkable oak of La Résistance in winter in the Forêt de Tronçais - Allier. This upright oak with its well-trimmed bole, called the Chêne des Quarante mètres by the lumberjacks, was the object of many a mans infatuation and quarrel. Initially named Chêne Maréchal Pétain and classified by the latter in 1940, it was clandestinely renamed Chêne Gabriel Peri in 1944. Since 1982, this remarkable, centuries-old tree has officially been known as the Chêne de la Résistance.
